The Gyalwang Drukpa

I just received an email telling me that Kunga has uploaded some video clips of birthday celebration and Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo's enthronement, so I am back here again punching on the keys. I am quite excited about modern technology like YouTube. The way they are making this kind of facility to let people share their videos and lives is very creative and very nice. But I also want to say that if this kind of technology is not used appropriately, then it can also harm people and the society, especially if you start to have addiction to it.

Addiction to anything is not a good idea at all. Instead of enjoying life, addiction spoils your life and makes everything upside down. Whether you are addicted to good things or bad things, it doesn't matter. Addiction is a form of strong attachment that doesn't take you anywhere. Some people are so addicted to fame, to money and then many people, especially young people are addicted to computers and they really admire their friends who know more about computers. Will this take them further away from samsara? If it will, please go ahead. But I can tell you, it doesn't work this way. So don't be addicted to anything. Don't worry, I am not addicted to putting news on the web. I just love to share my gossip, which doesn't mean anything at all.

There were rumours I heard from a few people that some women felt that my enthronement of Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo was overdone. I was very shocked that women could feel this way about women who had accomplished so much on a spiritual path. I can tell you honestly that t is really not easy to be a female practitioner in Tibetan Buddhist tradition. I have full confidence that Jetsunma will provide Gelongma ordination sooner or later to some of the nuns of our Drukpa Lineage, when the time is ripened. She has my full support and blessings for that. Anyway, as you all know by now, I don't normally follow what people say and expect me to do and I strongly believe and am convinced that Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo is a Jetsunma, not over, not less. I am sure my colleagues, students and friends who know Jetsunma would agree with me. Let's enjoy what my dear student, Kunga, has edited for us. By the way, I must say my monk Ngawang Sopa always does such a good job in video taking. In fact, I want to ask DPPL what happened to those videos that were supposed to be coming out in Christmas and New Year. Please hurry up, everyone has been waiting for a long time for the Ladakh, Nangchen, Kullu and Chicken Foot Mountain videos. Also  I would recommend DPPL to update the website soon, every time I check, nothing is changing. Can the webmaster do something about it?
