More News

Good news always sometimes comes together with bad news. It's only when something is bad that you can find others as good, and when something is good that you can find others as bad. Everything is relative. So I have good and bad news to share, or rather, happy and sad news to share.

One small but sad news is something from London. We were quite lucky to find a small but comfortable place to rent for our UK group's meetings and practices, but now we can't rent any more. So I am thinking that although this may be a sad news, it could also be a sign to tell us that it's time to get our own place. This sad news can be turned into an encouraging one, if we are able to inspire ourselves to get more active to look for a permanent place for our weekly activities and for our regular Live to Love operations. I often feel that my groups, including myself, should now be getting more active to inspire ourselves and others. So this is a great opportunity.

And then, there are some other news that are quite good, but not easy to complete. I have been thinking for a long time to publish a book on all the monasteries and activities of the Drukpa Lineage in the Himalayas, especially photographs of many of our old monasteries that have so many old relics and precious wall paintings that could be lost over time, since nothing is permanent. Now, my own budget committee did some checking and finding, so one professional American photographer is in Ladakh now and will be going to Garsha, Kinnaur, Manali, Kullu, all these places to take photographs and make a book of records. I told the budget committee and Drukpa Publications that this book on our monastic establishment and humanitarian activities outside of Tibet, should be out for ADC. Although this is not something about constructing monasteries and feeding nuns and monks or any other humanitarian activities, I feel this project falls under the "Heritage Preservation" in the Live to Love projects. So I am daringly appealing to everyone who wishes to keep our lineage alive to participate in this. I think this book will even be bigger and more beautiful than the 2 volumes of Naropa book, maybe we will have 1,000 pages at the very minimum, because I suspect we may have more than 500 Drukpa monasteries to cover, outside of Tibet.

Besides this, I have also requested Venerable Jinba to translate Gyalwa Gotsangpa's biography with support from all of us, and this project also falls under "Heritage" in the Live to Love activities.

The budget committee has given me the following information, which I would like to put here and share with you, to request all of my friends and students to participate freely, as you wish, so that you will continue to have a firm connection with the lineage through supporting these projects with the mind to benefit others. I would like them to record the names of those who help to complete these two wonderful Heritage projects, as a part of their contribution to preserve history of the Drukpa Lineage. In fact, I am thinking to propose that we find around 200 people and if each can give or raise US$1000 that would give 200 or more people a nice opportunity to participate. Most of my projects, although very big, are helped by mainly a few people, and some people are really telling me that I have not been giving them any chance to do something that they can afford and is historical and has important impact for our lineage. Though I was not going to mention these 2 Heritage projects here, I thought maybe it's better to tell everyone so that this opportunity to let many more people participate within their own capability will also be good for them. That's the only intention I have when I am telling you about these 2 projects.
