First Stop in Asia
2nd November 2008
As
usual, the friends and students in Hong Kong make me very happy. The
group is not very big, but they are serious practitioners. Thanks to Jigme
Kunzang Senge who came all the way from Europe to Hong Kong that I am able to
share a few photos with you here.
At the request of the Drukpa Hong Kong Sangha, we practised Sengey Tsewa together, even though they are still not so qualified to do this particular practice. The people were playing the drums or damarus very funnily, some were fast, some were slow, some people were not even able to hold the damarus nicely. So the conflicting noise as a result was quite funny. I think if Zhonu was here just now, he would be rolling on the carpet protesting. But I could see that people were very interested. They couldn't care what others think, they just wanted to participate with the damarus, the bells and everything. I am happy with this attitude, though I think they should try to practise the techniques properly before playing the damaru and bell in the public. By the time of the First ADC, I hope they are familiar with the skills.
As
usual, new people were demanding for refuge. Whenever someone took refuge,
everyone clapped their hands. People were so happy that they clapped their hands
and actually stood up from their seats, went around chit chatting with each
other. I think, this is very unique of Asian style. In Europe and Western
countries it's not like this. Western followers are quite serious and they get
annoyed with anyone who talks and makes small noise when I am still on the
throne. So over here, everything became quite chaotic, it was a bit difficult to
calm people down and rest them in the peaceful mood. But that was also good.
Seeing them happy made me happy too.
Surprisingly, no one came to me so far to complain about the economy or the stock market, which is normally the case whenever I come to Asia. Maybe they are pretending or they simply don't care. Everyone seems to be quite carefree and not bothered by the poor economic situation and the stock market. I would like to believe that this is an indication that the people here are improving innerly and this is why they are enjoying authentically. Everyone looks as if they are coping quite well with my gossip and digesting what I am saying.
Grace is really doing a fantastic job translating my gossip from English to Cantonese. I want to thank Grace and Theresa for working so hard in their free time to help me translate my messages on the web and to help with all the translation work at Drukpa Publications. Of course, I also want to thank all the translators and webmasters in different parts of the world that make whatever gossip and messages that I have available to everyone. This allows me to connect with everyone at one go. We really must thank all these hardworking translators and webmasters!
Now, it seems there are also a number of followers coming from Beijing to attend the programs in Hong Kong. So Kin and Jonathan are also working very hard to translate my gossip for them into Mandarin.
I am a bit busy so I can't write much. I just want to share some news with all of you who are following my journey.
